The trickster of the sea
By elan

Long ago  the taniwha were beautiful majestic creatures, their powers were unimaginable .But it all disappeared when their leader Tutuka monga made a wage with an octopus,
Tutuka monga was powerful, smart and brave but he had one huge flaw greed,
Tutuka monga was so greedy he bet his children once just for gold
But Tutuka monga was extremely smart and strong so he always won his bets.

It all began in the great barrier reef when tutuka monga was challenging fish to play his games.
He boomed in a heavy voice ‘‘ha I am the trickster of the sea no one can beat me”,all the fish cowered in fear that is all but one.then from out of nowhere a big blue octopus jumped out and roared with an almighty voice  ‘‘you are not the trickster of the sea because the trickster of the sea can trick even the Tangaroa”.Tutuka monga was really infuriated for he did not like challengers, ‘‘name the task oh mighty octopus” tutuka monga said.trick Tangaroa into giving you the jewel of the sea,but little did tutka monga  know that the octopus was the son of tangaroa.what is the prize asked tutuka monga, the power to fly said the octopus
Ohhhhhhhhhhh wailed the fish.then I shall do it howled tutuka monga in a monstrous voice.

So Tutuka monga potted to trick tangaroa but little did he know that the jewel of the sea was a myth,Tutuka monga  decided to try to steal it in tangaroa's sleep.but before he went the octopus warned his father of the robbery and Tangaroa was very angered and waited for the great mighty taniwha.when Tutuka monga snuck into the god's lair when very suddenly   he arose with mighty anger “taniwha you have tried to steal  from me a god how dare you” he said.”A thousand apologies tangaroa I just saw something that I thought belonged to the taniwha”, ‘‘nothing here belongs to you Tangaroa said and for your your mighty treason I banish you to the bottom of the sea”

Tutuka monga was furious with the octopus so he decided to eat him,so the octopus fled the great barrier reef and to this day the octopus is still hiding in fear of the taniwha.
